Myrtle Finstad

NEW ULM — Myrtle Finstad, 95, of New Ulm died Friday, September 13, 2019 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, SOUTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm with Pastor Sarah Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Albion Lutheran Cemetery in Albin Township, Brown County. Visitation will be from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, SOUTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm.

Myrtle is survived by her daughters, Carol (Harlie) Stark of Darfur, Bonnie Getman of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; son, Lee (Ann) Finstad of Cabool, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; thirty five great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Finstad; son, Bernard Finstad in infancy; son-in-law, Richard Getman; and fourteen sisters and brothers.

Myrtle Jane Metteer was born on December 12, 1923 in Mountain Lake to John and Alma (Belt) Metteer. On March 13, 1943 she was united in marriage to Paul Finstad in Windom. Myrtle was a housekeeper in her earlier years and a homemaker for the balance of her life. She loved to cook, bake, play harmonica, clean, interior decorate, refinish furniture, fix puzzles, play cards, visiting, and watch ball games on tv. She was a member of Lake Hanska Lutheran Church.
