Alice Minick

A Celebration of Life Services for Alice Minick, 95, of Fairmont, Minnesota, formally of Welcome, Minnesota will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2019 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome, Minnesota with Pastor Wayne Fritzinger officiating. Burial will be in Welcome City Cemetery in Welcome.

Alice was called to her eternal rest on Tuesday morning, August 27, 2019 at Goldfinch Estates in Fairmont, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the church in Welcome Minnesota.

Alice Vivian Voyles the daughter of Herbert and Mabel (Hansgaard) Voyles was born on February 26, 1924 in Fairmont Township, Martin County, Minnesota. She received her education in District #21 in Fairmont, MN, and in 3rd grade the family moved to a farm south of Welcome, MN, where she continued her education at District #90. In August 5th, 1945, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Minick. After they were wed, Alice and Kenneth lived in Welcome, Minnesota, where they raised one daughter and three sons. Alice was a member of the Methodist Church in Welcome. Later she became a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. She was active in both churches and was a member of the Welcome Historical Society, the Welcome Museum, and the Heritage Acres Preservation Society of Fairmont, MN. Alice enjoyed doing daycare, and she was loved by all her daycare families. She enjoyed the neighborhood supper parties and being home with her children. Alice loved to take care of and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alice continued to live in Welcome until she became a resident of Goldfinch Estate on July 2009.

Those left to cherish her memories: Linda (Lewis) Anderson of New Ulm, Kent Minick of Manalapan, New Jersey, Wayne (Cathy) Minick of Faribault, MN; nine grandchildren, Tim (Maria) Anderson, Tammy (Steve) Seech, Travis (Ellen) Anderson, Kent Minick, Robert Minick, Christine (Peter) Marra, John Miller, Shawn (Trina) Minick, Amber Minick; and fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Gruver of Missoula, Montana, and LaVerna Shaffer of Edwardsville, Illinois; one sister-in-law, Ardis Courtney of Ninety Six, South Carolina; several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, parents Herbert and Mabel Voyles, father- and mother-in-law, Harry and Estella Minick, son Kurt Minick, daughter-in-law Margaret Minick, brother Glen Voyles, and infant brother Duane Voyles, sisters June Sandberg, Mae Klug, infant sister Fern, and other relatives.
