Marvin Eugene Goldschmidt

SVEADAHL — Marvin Eugene Goldschmidt age 91, of Sveadahl, MN died on July 2, 2019, at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 5, 2019 from 4 to 7 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Comfrey Chapel and will continue on Saturday from 9:30 until 10:30 am at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Comfrey. There will be a Parish Prayer Service at 4pm on Friday at the funeral home.

Funeral Service will be held at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Comfrey, on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 10:30 am.

The clergy will be Msgr. Eugene Lozinski.

Reception will follow the service in the church social hall.

Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye at 1:30pm Saturday.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Marvin Eugene Goldschmidt was born May 24, 1928 in Sleepy Eye, MN the son of Leo & Elizabeth (Wildschutz) Goldschmidt. He grew up on the family farm near Sleepy Eye and attended country school. Marvin farmed North of Sleepy Eye and married Bernice Sellner on September 11th, 1950 at St. Mary’s Church in Sleepy Eye. The couple was blessed with five children. Marvin continued to farm in the Darfur area raising his family. Marvin & Bernice moved to Sveadahl in 1985 and still lived there until his passing. He also worked for Darfur Implement, Darfur Tri County and Miller Sellner in Bingham Lake until he retired. Marvin was a member of the KC’s and the Jaycee’s in Sleepy Eye. He enjoyed coaching girl’s softball, making wood crafts, mowing, and tinkering in the garage. He was an avid Twins fan. Marvin loved watching his grandkids playing sports. He was a very dedicated family man and cherished times they could be together.

Marvin passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center.

Survivors include, his wife, Bernice of Sveadahl, five children, Gail (Daryl) Sonnabend of Darfur, Gary (Kim) of St. James, Gwen (John) Schueller of Sleepy Eye, Gregg (Deb) of Sveadahl, and Gene (Shawna) of Maple Grove, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sisters, Sr. Audrey Goldschmidt of Rochester, Carol Hengel of Sleepy Eye and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Gerald, James, Donald and Milo and sisters, Dolly, Roslyn and Darleen.
