Donald “Don” Quam

NEW ULM — Donald “Don” Quam, 83, of New Ulm died Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the New Ulm Medical Center.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm with Pastor Tim Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery with full military honors being provided by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service at the funeral home.

Don is survived by his wife Eunice Quam of New Ulm; a daughter, Kimberly (John) Rahr of Glendive, Montana; sons, Daniel (Candice) Quam of North Branch, David (Lori) Quam Stanchfield and Darrell (Leah) Quam of Broomfield, Colorado; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren and by his sister Lynette (Pat) Mathews of Richfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Sylvia “Ardyce” Reinhart, Helen Byro and Quidelle Melzer.

Donald Orville Quam was born June 30, 1935 in Madelia Township, Watonwan County, to Ole and Alma (Jorgenson) Quam. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. Don was united in marriage to Eunice Kohls on November 3, 1956 in Hanska. He was employed with Chain of Lake Real Estate and then as an adjuster for Great Central Home Insurance.

Don was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge #287 in Lindstrom and a past District Commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to American Legion Post #132, Christ the King Church or the donor’s choice.
