Graveside Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard with bagpipes.

Donald is survived by his partner of 30 plus years, Diana (Sellner) Gutknecht; sister, Judy (Bruce) Kirby; brothers, Robert (Ruth) Zaruba, Leroy (Verna) Zaruba extended family, Bev (Sellner) Luneburg, Josh and Ambriel Luneburg, Daniel, Jenell, Sophia and Logan Metcalf; many nieces and nephews and his special caregivers at Prairie Senior Cottages.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; sisters, Joan Nicholas, Kathy Burnight and Mary Buck,

Donald Eugene Zaruba was born September 5, 1955 in Fullerton Nebraska to Robert Sr. and Rita (Wlaschin) Zaruba. He graduated from Fullerton High School and attended college in Kearney Nebraska. After college he enlisted in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist and he served from 1973 to 1979. He worked as a supervisor at Baldwin Filters in Kearney Nebraska and as a supervisor at Anagram Inc. in Eden Prairie. He loved all sports especially bowling, golfing, NASCAR and the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Alzheimer’s Disease Research, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871 or donor’s choice.

The family would like to thank the staff at Prairie Senior Cottages and Hospice for their wonderful care of Don.
