Gerald “Jerry” Fischer
Gerald Fischer, age 74, of Lake Crystal, died on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 21 at 11 a.m. at Nora Unitarian Universalist Church in Hanska. Visitation will be on Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the MDHA Bend of the River Chapter and the Nora Unitarian Universalist Church.
Gerald was born on September 3, 1944 in Sleepy Eye, MN to Edwin and Gertrude (Simon) Fischer. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1962. Jerry was united in marriage to Betty Asleson on September 18, 1965 at Nora Unitarian Universalist Church in Hanska. Jerry worked for Coca-Cola for 40 years, retiring in 2004. Jerry loved deer hunting and was a lifelong member of the MDHA Bend of the River Chapter. He enjoyed helping family, friends, neighbors, whoever asked and needed help, he never said “no.”
Jerry is survived by his wife, Betty of Lake Crystal; daughter, Dawn (Tom) Yenish of Mankato; son, Wade (Michelle) Fischer of Mankato; grandchildren, Sarah, Lauren, and Adam Yenish and Tevyn Schmidt, all of Mankato; brother, Kenneth (Annie) Fischer of New Ulm; sister, Doreen (Gerold) Schmitt of New Ulm; brother-in-law, Truman Asleson (Barb Smith) of Howard Lake; sister-in-law, Carol Asleson of New Ulm; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
