Joseph Leonard Anton was born April 28, 1944 in Vesta, Minnesota to Edward and Dorothy (Meurer) Anton. He attended grade school at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Early in life, Joe worked as a farm hand, and later hauled milk and worked at the Klossner Elevator. Most recently, Joe worked for the past fifteen years as a bar-tender. Besides the work he did, Joe had a variety of hobbies that brought him joy in life. As an outdoorsman, Joe loved spending time in nature hunting deer. He also was an avid collector of guns and horse statues. He also loved playing card games such as sheepshead with friends. Joe would consistently attend family functions. At Christmas gatherings, Joe would bring presents for each family member. Each present would be wrapped, but the presents were rarely labelled, so many times, a family member would open the wrong present. Also, Joe would never remove the price tags from his gifts which always caused everyone to laugh. Many wonderful memories such as this will forever stay in the hearts of all who knew Joe best. Joe was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Nicollet. Blessed be his memory.
