Mark Bode

NEW ULM — Mark Bode, age 63, of New Ulm passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019 at his home New Ulm.

Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Courtland with Pastor Wayne Bernau officiating. A private burial will take place in the New Ulm City Cemetery-Soldiers Rest Section.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church in Courtland.

Mark is survived by his son, Nathan (Chelsea) Bode; special friend, Debbie Leatherman; his sister, Carol Harkins; brothers, Gerald Bode, Nathan (Cheryl) Bode, Paul (Sue) Bode, Arthur (Jody) Bode, Edward (Vicky) Bode, Martin (Deb) Bode; brother-in-law, Wayne Cole and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Flora Cole; sister-in-law, Linda (Hopp) Bode and brother-in-law, Richard Harkins.

Mark A. Bode was born February 20, 1956 at Union Hospital in New Ulm to Wilmer and Marie (Gurgel) Bode. He was baptized March 4, 1956 at Immanuel Lutheran in Courtland. He graduated from Nicollet High School in 1974. After high school he attended Mankato State University. He enlisted into the United States Air Force on March 16, 1976 and was honorably discharged on March 14, 1980. He worked for H&R Block for 15 years, New Ulm Furniture and Cash Wise Foods. On September 4, 1990 Mark courageously endured the effects of a brain tumor which caused him to become disabled. He enjoyed sharing stories about his faith and memories with siblings and family about the farm. He lived simply but shared generously. He loved spending time with his family.

In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Immanuel Lutheran School in Courtland.
