Pamela Jo (Weicherding) Banwell

Pamela Jo (Weicherding) Banwell

On November 27, 2018, Pamela Jo Banwell, wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend to many, passed away at the age of 53 in her home from cancer.

Pam was born in New Ulm to Ken and Joan Weicherding. After graduating from New Ulm High School in 1983, she attended St. Cloud State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in graphic design. She began her career at Meyer Marketing, an advertising agency in St. Cloud. There, she met, befriended, then fell in love with her husband, Steven Banwell. The two were married in 1991 at Calvary Baptist Church in St. Cloud. They remained in St. Cloud until 2015 when they moved to Minnetrista.

Pam also worked at Nahan Printing before becoming a stay-at-home mom to daughter, Kendra and son, Baxter. She returned to work part-time at Thrivent Financial as an office professional for a few years after the children were grown, and most recently worked as a teaching assistant at First Step Montessori in Chaska. “Miss Pam” particularly enjoyed working with young children.

In her spare time, Pam enjoyed volunteering. She served as PTA treasurer for two terms at Westwood Elementary School, and as a hospitality volunteer and Vacation Bible School volunteer at Westwood Community Church in St. Cloud. She loved animals, especially dogs, and often talked about her dream of starting a dog rescue.

More than anything, Pam loved being a mom. As her children grew, she could be found in karate dojos, dance studios, hockey rinks and all manner of school and church related activities. Later in life, as an empty nester, her favorite activity, by far, was to spend quiet evenings at home with Steven, watching hockey on television, with her King Charles Cavalier, Maisy, snuggled on her lap.

Pam will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 27 years, Steven, and her children, Kendra (David) Najjar, and Baxter. She will also be fondly remembered by her parents, Kenneth and Joan Weicherding, her sister Susan (Mark) Jacobson, and her nephew and niece, Daric and Elle Jacobson.

Pam was preceded in death by her grandparents Albert Kretsch, Alice Kretsch Larson, Albert and Alice Weicherding.

A celebration of Pam’s life will take place on Saturday, Dec. 1 at Huber Funeral Home, 16394 Glory Lane, Eden Prairie. All who have had their lives touched by Pam are welcome to attend. The family will greet guests, beginning at 10 a.m., with the service beginning at 11 a.m. A light lunch will be served, following the service. The family has opted for cremation. Interment will take place in New Ulm at a later date.
