NEW ULM — Darlene L. Walden, age 82, of New Ulm, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018 at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 29, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Pastor Nathan Scharf will officiate, and burial will follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. The visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Darlene is survived by her husband, George; two daughters, Jody Kohn of Lafayette and Wendy (Steve) Kraus of New Ulm; seven grandchildren, Shawn Kohn, Shane (special friend Amber Dawson) Kohn, Derek Neidecker, Micah (Tatiana) Neidecker, Kevin (special friend Riley Boyer) Neidecker, Caitlin Neidecker, and Brad Kraus; eight great grandchildren and a sister, Renelda Mann of St. Paul.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Agnes Boelter.
Darlene LaVonne Hirchert was born on March 5, 1936 in Gettysburg, SD to George & Violet (Marohl) Hirchert. She was united in marriage to George Walden on May 4, 1956 in New Ulm. She worked for Kraft Foods in New Ulm for 37 years and retired at the age of 55. She enjoyed playing cards, games and fill-in puzzles. She also loved fishing, bowling, motorcycle rides with her grandson Shane, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
