Marion M. Fiebiger

NEW ULM — Marion M. Fiebiger, age 97, of New Ulm died peacefully on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the Oak Hills Living Center with her son by her side.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 am on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Father Gerald Meidl will celebrate that Mass, and Father Bernard Steiner will concelebrate the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, and continue from 9-10:30 am on Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home- North Chapel in New Ulm. The Christian Mothers will pray the rosary at 4 pm on Tuesday at the Cathedral.

Marion is survived by her son, Tom (Sandi) Fiebiger of Oro Valley, Arizona; her granddaughter, Amy (Matt) Hawk of Marana, Arizona; great-granddaughter, Mackenzie; and her brother, Vern (Phyllis) Rubey of New Ulm.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald on December 15, 2013; her sister, Lauretta Walser; and her brother, Joseph Rubey Jr.

Marion Mathilda Rubey was born June 7, 1921, in New Ulm to Joseph Sr. and Elsie (Krause) Rubey. She attended Holy Trinity School, and graduated with the class of 1939. On January 12, 1942, Marion was united in marriage to Donald Fiebiger at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm by Father Leo Krzmarzick. The couple was blessed with their son Tom whom together they raised in New Ulm while Marion worked at Loretta Hospital until her retirement in 1979. Marion was a devout member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she was a member since 1937 of the St. Elizabeth/St. Joseph Catholic United. She was also a member the Christian Mothers, the Ministry of Praise, and the Rosary Society. Civically, Marion was a member of the New Ulm American Legion Auxiliary, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, the Hospital Auxiliary, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Marion was the best wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend that anyone could possibly ask for. She was truly endearing to everyone she knew and met. Marion lived a long and beautiful life, was dearly loved and respected, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Blessed be her memory.
