Eleanore Jean Waibel

Eleanore Jean (Johnson) Waibel, age 72, of Glencoe, formally of Fairfax and Redwood Falls, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Memorial Services will be on Monday, Dec. 18, at 1 p.m. at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax with interment at a later date. Gathering of family and friends will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the chapel.

Jean was born on Febb. 10, 1945 in Redwood Falls. She was the daughter of Merlin and Mildred (Nelson) Johnson and grew up in Redwood Falls. She graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1963. After high school she worked as a telephone operator, for the family business, as a cashier/cook at the convenience store in Fairfax and at the Franklin Health Care Center, until her retirement. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary in Redwood Falls and Fairfax.

Jean’s greatest love in life were her children and grandchildren and she spent as much time with them as possible. She enjoyed cooking, reading, spending time with her grand puppies, doing crossword puzzles and connecting with people on Facebook.

Jean was united in marriage to Marlin Waibel in Iowa on March 23, 1968. They had five children: Michael, Lori, Scott, Ryan and Amy.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marlin; sons Ryan and Michael and daughter, Lori. She is survived by her son Scott Waibel and his wife Sara of Glencoe; daughter Amy Waibel of Mankato; two grandchildren, Arissa and Michael Waibel of Glencoe and many other friends and relatives.
