Ronald L. Drahota

NEW ULM — Ronald L. Drahota, age 76, of New Ulm, died Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Laurels Peak Rehabilitation Center in Mankato, surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, and from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Thursday, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, NORTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Carol of New Ulm; daughters, Kim (Mark) Schaefer of New Ulm, and Julie (Douglas) Beinborn of Byron; sons, Ronald (Michele) of New Ulm, R.P. Hammerschmidt of New Ulm, and Christopher (Jessica) of Lakeville; seven grandchildren, Julia, Alex, Taylor, Riley, Laura, Abigail, and Grace; sisters, Jan Olsen of Bloomington, and Doris (Richard) Schlager of Jackson; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leonard; a sister, Cynthia Stone; and a brother-in-law, Merle Olsen.

Ronald Leonard Drahota was born on August 12, 1941 in Lakefield to Leonard & Margaret (Vrchota) Drahota. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1959. Ronald was united in marriage to Carol Sprague on July 7, 1962 in Fairmont, MN. He worked in sales, selling insurance, gas, and used cars, until his retirement in 2008. Ron enjoyed bowling, tinkering with cars, and watching the Vikings. He had a love of music and for many years played in an old time band with his dad. Every family gathering would not be complete without the music. Most of all, Ron loved being around and socializing with other people. He will be greatly missed.
