Gerhard “Gerry” Biedenbender

NEW ULM — Gerhard “Gerry” Biedenbender, age 77, of New Ulm, died Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Regency Hospital in Golden Valley, MN.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Timothy Smith officiating. Private family burial will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, WI.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. The visitation will continue from 9:30-10:30 am on Saturday at the church in New Ulm.

Gerry is survived by his wife, Marian of New Ulm; two sons, Steve Biedenbender and Dave (Cathy) Biedenbender, both of New Ulm; daughter Ruth (Antonio) Rivera of Windsor, CT; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; a sister, Lucille Biedenbender of Appleton; and nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: Ewald, Wilburn, Kermit, Fred, and two infant brothers.

Gerhard Harold Biedenbender was born on August 13, 1940 in Appleton, WI to William and Stella (Riedel) Biedenbender. He was baptized and confirmed in his Christian faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Appleton. Gerry served in the U.S. Army from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1963. He married Marian Oswald on June 24, 1962 at Riverview Lutheran Church in Appleton. Gerry lived the majority of his adult life in the Milwaukee, WI area and worked in the computer technology and data processing areas for various companies, including the Eaton Corporation. He was very active in his church, serving on many church boards and singing in the choir.
