NEW ULM — Galen Havemeier, 61, of New Ulm died Friday, Sept. 1, 2017 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Grant Bode officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Thursday.

Galen is survived by his wife, Sandra Havemeier of New Ulm; sons, Justin Havemeier of Bloomington, Jeffrey (Aileen) Havemeier of New Ulm; a granddaughter, Zoey Havemeier; sister, Marilyn (Tom) Macho of New Ulm; and a brother, Roger (Roxanne) Havemeier of Coon Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Galen Keith Havemeier was born Oct. 17, 1955 in Fairfax to Willis and Laneta (Meyer) Havemeier. He was a graduate of Fairfax High School and Mankato Area Technical Institute. Galen was united in marriage to Sandra Lee Versch on Aug. 25, 1984 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm. They resided in New Ulm where Galen was employed at MSG for 36 years and then 3M for the past two years. He enjoyed fishing, wildlife, the outdoors and watching football and baseball.

Galen loved spending time with his granddaughter Zoey.
