GIBBON — Margaret “Marge” Berg, 69, of Gibbon died Saturday, April 22, 2017 near Kimball.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church in Gibbon.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Saturday. Marge is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ray Berg of Gibbon; son, Josh Berg of Gibbon and his special friend, Jackie Markgraf and her children, Hope, Marvin, Carl, and Raymond; grandson, Isiah; sisters, Ruth (Duane) Helget of St. James, Diane (David) O’Mara of Stewartville, Lois (John) Larson of Lake Crystal, Marlene (Larry) Wilking of Nicollet, Phyllis (Donny) DeSaer of Courtland, Linda (Paul) Soukup of New Ulm, Mary Liebl and her special friend, Wayne Kisner of St. Cloud; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Jeremy; brothers, James Liebl, David Liebl; niece, Janelle Helget; brothers-in-law, Linus Huiras, and Roger Matz.

Margaret Anne Liebl was born on July 8, 1947 in New Ulm to Louis and Rosalia (Traegner) Liebl. Marge attended Handmaids of Jesus Christ convent in Donaldson, Indiana, and graduated from New Ulm Public High School in 1965. On August 16, 1969 she was united in marriage to Raymond Berg at St. George Catholic Church in St. George. Marge was a caregiver in Fairfax and New Ulm, foster parent, daycare provider, factory worker, and worked at Romies Café in Fairfax. She and Ray owned and operated the Smokey Hollow Café in Fairfax from 1977 to 1984. Marge was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 35 and was very active with MN MS Society and she was part of the MS support group in Gibbon. Marge enjoyed spending time with her son, grandson, family and friends, playing bingo and cribbage, solving puzzles, fishing, camping, sewing, walking, and making delicious baked goods. Marge was a member of St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church in Gibbon. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
