Jean L. Volker

SLEEPY EYE – Jean L. Volker, age 77, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on October 18, 2016, at her home.

Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 7 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye and will continue on Saturday from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at the church.

Service will be held at the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 10:30 am.

The clergy will be Pastor Nathanael Mayhew.

Interment will be at the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Jean Loretta Volker was born on March 25, 1939 at home in Cottonwood Township, Brown County, MN, the daughter of Leonard & Irene M. (Wurtzberger) Schiller. She grew up in Sleepy Eye and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. Jean married Dale Lowinske, he preceded her in death in 1965. She married Paul Volker on March 29, 1968 in Sleepy Eye. She worked at Del Monte, Orchid Inn and Countryside in the housekeeping department. Jean was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. She enjoyed bowling, watching professional sports, listening to old time and western music, a casino run, spending time at the lake and loved being with the grandkids and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Paul of Sleepy Eye, daughters, Jeri Beltz of Lakeville, Debra (Brad) Augustin of Fairfax, Margie (Curt) Koewler of Fairfax, Connie (Randy) Kosak of Fergus Falls, Brenda (Cory) Garoutte of Glencoe, Bobbie (Cliff) Carmody of Marshall and 21 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, brother-in-laws, Tom Roberts and William Trebesch, both of Sleepy Eye and special friend and caregiver, Chris Steffen. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dale, sisters, Janet Ulman, Joan Trebesch, Joyce Roberts and son-in-law, Tim Beltz.
