Dennis W. Braun was born April, 19, 1934, in Stark Township to Aloys and Loretta (Hoffmann) Braun. He was one of six children. He grew up on the family farm and attended school until the ninth grade. He had a passion for flying, and he managed to get his pilot’s license with the help of his mother at the tender age of 16. He married his teenage sweetheart LaNette Haas on 8/30/1954, at St. Mary’s Church in Sleepy Eye. They met when they were just 15 years of age. Their wedding reception was the first to be hosted by the Orchid Inn in Sleepy Eye. They took a two-week honeymoon and were on the original Braun farm ever since. Together they raised three children Steve Braun (Lynette Helget), Dean Braun (Sherri Kresbach) and Colleen Braun (Thomas Goeritz). Dennis and LaNette shared a love of flying and enjoyed many hours attending flight breakfasts and a few trips to airshows such as Oshkosh, Wisconsin. They also enjoyed snowmobiling with family and friends and hosting the Annual Braun Pork Chop and Turtle Feed. Dennis was a farmer. He worked at the New Ulm Airport recovering airplanes. He trucked for Braun Oil and Kral’s Trucking until his retirement about ten years ago. Dennis was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather brother and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
