He was preceded in death by his father Milford Berg.

Arlan Milford Berg was born November 22, 1946 in St. Peter to Milford and Elaine (Olson) Berg. He attended Winthrop High School and after graduation joined the United States Navy serving in the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage on May 23, 1971 to Pam Rosenau. The couple was blessed with two daughters. Arlan worked for Hauenstein Brewery until it closed then started working for the New Ulm Public Utilities. He ended his career there as the Assistant Water & Steam Supervisor.

Arlan had a true love for the outdoors and enjoyed sharing his passion with his family and friends at the lake. Going for boat rides, fishing, tubing, watching birds, hanging his American flag, and grilling was always on the to-do list way before the snow would melt in the spring.

Arlan was a talented and skilled craftsman, from building furniture to completing large home remodeling projects, there wasn’t a whole lot he wouldn’t tackle. He took great pride in teaching these skills to his daughters. Arlan will be most remembered for his kind heart and his willingness to serve. He was always there offering a smile and a helpful hand. His sense of humor and quick-witted jokes will be reminisced by family and friends for years to come.

Arlan was a past member of the Winthrop American Legion and a twenty-plus year treasurer for the Idle Wave Lake Association. He was also a very active member of his church, St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran and served on the School Board for St. Paul’s Lutheran School in New Ulm.
