Dolores J. Lueck

WINTHROP-Dolores J. Lueck, age 95, of Winthrop passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.

Memorial Service will be Monday, June 30, 2014, 11:00 A.M. at First Lutheran Church in Lafayette with Reverend Scott Jakel officiating. Memorials preferred to the Nicollet County Historical Society or the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.

Gathering of Family and Friends will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Dolores Junette (Sandquist) Lueck was born on March 31, 1919, in Lafayette Township, Nicollet County, MN. She was the daughter of Ben and Tillie (Lundberg) Sandquist. Dolores was baptized and confirmed in her faith at Bernadotte Lutheran Church. She received her education in Lafayette and Winthrop and was a graduate of the Winthrop Class of 1937.

On November 18, 1939, Dolores was united in marriage to Ralph W. Lueck at Bernadotte Lutheran Church, Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County, MN. After their marriage, the couple resided in St. Paul and then Lafayette. Dolores was employed as a bookkeeper for Isenberg Electric and Lafayette Excavating. This union was blessed with two children. Dolores and Ralph shared 62 years of marriage before Ralph passed away on January 2, 2002.

Dolores was a member of First Lutheran Church in Lafayette where she was the church choir accompanist. She was also a member of the Church Women.

Dolores enjoyed flower gardening, listening to organ and piano music, cats, baking, writing and typing, bird watching, keeping the history of the surrounding towns, antiquing and appreciated nature. She was a strong willed lady. Dolores especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Blessed be her memory.

Dolores is survived by her children, Les Lueck of Hugo, MN, and Gayla Mattson and her husband, Carl of Carver, MN; grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott) Boran and Eric (Tracy) Mattson; great-grandchildren, Kieran and Liam Boran, Casandra, Savannah and Samantha Mattson (twins); brother, Arnold Sandquist of Lafayette, MN; special friend, Janice Femrite Larsen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Tillie Sandquist; husband, Ralph Lueck; great-grandson, Kaiden Mattson; and brother, Virgil Sandquist.
