Madays Repair opens in the former Reinarts Repair shop
Madays Repair located on the corner of 14th South and Valley in New Ulm recently opened this year, after buying out Reinarts Repair.
NEW ULM – Madays Repair, a small engine and power sports repair shop opened Jan. 1 this year in the old Reinarts Repair shop on the corner of 14th South and Valley, across the street from Luepke Oil and Trucking.
Madays Repair services small engines like lawn mowers or chainsaws, and power sports vehicles like ATVs and motorcycles. They specialize in gas or two stroke motors. They cannot repair appliance motors or cars.
“There’s just not enough room for cars yet,” said Maday.
Although he purchased the business in November of last year, it officially opened and welcomes new clients since Jan. 1 of this year. Dustin Maday has been fixing small engines since about 2006. After he parted ways with his old employer, Maday Motors, he still liked the job. When the old owner of Reinarts Repair wanted to sell their business, it worked out for Maday to buy and open Madays Repair.
New lumber studs, waiting on walls line the left side of the shop. This is the part of the shop that was once a living quarters since the 1970s. New hexagon led lights cover part of the ceiling where most of the work will be done. Tools and shop counters line the rest of the walls, minus the large garage door to the front.
“I’m just trying to get the business together,” said Maday. “The living quarters thing was a whole big thing. I’m hoping to make the shop bigger and knock out a wall. I haven’t decided totally yet.”
Maday also hopes to completely redo the outside to make it look nicer by adding new siding and new signage.
“Work has been decent since opening, good enough to keep busy,” said Maday.
He plans on advertising only by word of mouth and maybe Facebook but has no plans for a website or very much social media. As of now, Dustin Maday is the sole employee of Maday Repairs, but he hopes to have his stepdad work with him soon.
“It’s one step at a time,’ said Maday.
Those interested in Maday’s services can call or text at, 1 (507) 276-6685 to make appointments. Stopping by is okay, too.
“Turnover on small engine repair depends. Sometimes I have to wait for parts, so I’d say most things can be done in maybe a day or two for smaller engines,” said Maday.
