New Ulm Police
• Talked to Oak Hills Living Center staff at 1:46 p.m. Tuesday about a check written out in the amount of $4,892 to a Chicago man. The employee said the check number was altered and Oak Hills never wrote the check to the man. The check was discovered before it was cashed. A report is under investigation.
• Responded to New Medical Center at 9:26 p.m. Tuesday to assist Allina Security with a combative patient, a 17-year-old Winthrop male. No injuries or damage were reported. The youth was returned to the emergency department. A report was done for documentation.
• Stopped a vehicle for poor driving conduct at 1:06 a.m. Monday at near CR 25 and 150th Ave., Cottonwood Township. A 60-year-old Mankato female driver displayed impairment signs, was arrested for DWI, transported to the Brown County Jail, then to detox. A report went to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office for consideration of third-degree DWI.
• Responded to a report of an intoxicated, 54-year-old New Ulm man who fell off his bicycle at 1:50 a.m. Monday. A report went to the Minnesota Department of Motor Vehicles for consideration of any alcohol use invalidating his driver’s license.
• Took an attempted break-in report at Express Lane, 627 Minnesota St. North at 4:22 a.m. Monday. Signs of forced entry were noticed but entry was not gained. Video surveillance was obtained. A report is under investigation.
• Talked to a 66-year-old New Ulm woman at 7:19 a.m. Monday who said she was bitten by a dog while walking on the 1000 block, Front St. South. Police talked to the dog owner, a 44-year-old New Ulm man who produced vaccination records that expired in July 2025. The dog owner was advised the dog would be quarantined. A report went to New Ulm Police Animal Control.
• Responded to Caribou Coffee Monday for a report of a man in the store making staff uncomfortable. Police learned a man comes into the business nightly wearing a sweatshirt with hood up and sunglasses on who never orders anything but stares at employees. Police recognized the suspect as a 41-year-old New Ulm man who has been trespassed from other local businesses. The man was issued a trespass warning from Caribou. A report went to Brown County Probation.
