New Ulm Police
• Stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation Friday. Impairment signs were detected. A 46-year-old Mankato man was arrested for DWI after field sobriety tests were done. Reports went to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office and Brown County Probation for consideration of 4th-degree DWI, open cannabis package in a motor vehicle and proof of insurance.
• Kwik Trip north store management reported a 49-year-old New Ulm man in the store they recognized from past thefts at 2:45 p.m. Friday. Three thefts were traced to the man with a total theft amount of $9.79. The man was cited for theft. The past two theft cases involving the man will be reviewed for charge consideration. Reports went to Brown County Human Services and the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office.
• Talked to a 19-year-old New Ulm female at 12:58 a.m. Saturday who said she sent nude photos of herself to a 34-year-old man from Folson, Pa. The man continued to ask for more photos but the female refused to send more. She said the man threatened to post the photos online if she didn’t send more. A report went to investigators.
• Received a call about a man pacing back and forth and making gun gestures with his hands at 1:17 a.m. Saturday at Minnesota and 1st Street North. Police located a 38-year-old Klossner man who admitted to being under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. A report went to Brown County Probation.
• Took a report of vandalism at 3:50 a.m. Saturday on the 1500 block of South Broadway where windows were covered with motor oil. The suspect is a 19-year-old New Ulm male. The report is under investigation.
• Stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation and suspicious driving conduct at 12:56 a.m. at Payne St. and 2nd St. North. Impairment was detected from a 51-year-old New Ulm man. He was arrested for 4th-degree DWI and transported to the Brown County Jail. The man was cited for 4th-degree DWI, obstructing the legal process and no proof of insurance. Reports went to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office and Brown County Probation.
• Stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation at 1:09 a.m. Monday along Highway 14 in Milford Township. It was learned the driver, a 53-year-old New Ulm man had a felony arrest warrant. He was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail. A report went to Brown County Probation.
• Received a two-vehicle crash report at 6:02 p.m. at 20th Street South and Broadway. Curtis Allen Hoffmann, 64, New Ulm, was driving a 2007 Buick Lucerne southbound that collided with a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu driven northbound by Courtney Danielle Thompson, 31, New Ulm. Damage was severe to the front of the Malibu and it was towed. Damage was moderate to the passenger side fender of the Buick. Both drivers wore seat belts. Hoffmann said he had leg pain but was not transported to the hospital. Thompson said she had left hand and chest pain and was not transported.
• Received a two-vehicle crash report at 3 p.m. Sept. 17 at Center and Broadway. A 2010 Chevrolet Malibu driven southbound by Brian David Labaw, 64, Franklin, was in the left turn lane with a yellow arrow when he turned into the intersection and collided with a northbound 2010 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Bradley Dean Scheibel, 59, New Ulm. Both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage. Both drivers wore seat belts and were not injured.
• Stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation at Minnesota St. South at 9:08 p.m. Monday. Due to observations by officers, a search was done. A 59-year-old Nicollet woman was arrested for third and fifth-degree controlled substance possession and no proof of insurance. Reports went to the Brown County Attorney’s Office and Brown County Probation.
• Responded to a report of a man near State Highway 68 and 110th Ave. at 2:27 a.m. Tuesday. A 26-year-old Blue Earth man told police his ex-girlfriend, a 33-year-old Blue Earth woman, threw his backpack out the window as they drove down the highway. When he exited the vehicle to pick it up, she took off, leaving him along the roadside. Officers learned a protection order prohibiting the man from being with the woman was in effect. A report is under investigation.
• Arrested a 45-year-old New Ulm man on a Blue Earth County Apprehension and Detention Order at 8:52 a.m. Tuesday. The man was transported to the Brown County Jail. A report went to Blue Earth County Community Corrections.
• A School Resource Officer at New Ulm High School met with a 14-year-old Courtland female student who admitted being in possession of a vaping device at 11:17 a.m. Tuesday. She was cited for the offense. A report went to Nicollet County Community Corrections.
Sibley County Sheriff’s Office
• Responded to a report of a suspicious pickup truck and trailer parked along County Road 62, about four miles west of Henderson at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Deputies talked to the vehicle occupant, Alexander Nipp, 28, Gibbon. It was determined the truck and trailer were stolen from a job site near Green Isle. Nipp was arrested.
