New Ulm Police
• Took a report of a vehicle hitting an uncovered manhole at 9:58 p.m. Sunday at Hauenstein Dr. and 14th St. S. A rear passenger tire was damaged. A report was done for documentation.
• Responded to the area of 20th South and Bridge St. for vehicles stalled in a flooded street at 8;57 p.m. Sunday. Also, a squad car drove over a manhole without a cover, causing minor vehicle damage.
• Police located a 31-year-old Appleton man with a Chippewa County arrest warrant at 7:31 p.m. The man was working at a New Ulm job site. He was transported to the Brown County Jail. A report was done for documentation.
• Took a report of an incident said to happen during a custody exchange at 6:56 p.m. Friday on the 200 block, Front St. N. Police said a 10-year-old New Ulm boy said he didn’t want to go with his mother, a 39-year-old New Ulm woman. The boy said his mother pinched him while enroute to the exchange. A small, red mark was found on the boy. His father, a 41-year-old New Ulm man, brought up other abuse incidents with the mother, who denied the allegations and said the father “brainwashed” the kids to not like her. Reports went to the Committee Against Domestic Abuse and Brown County Attorney’s Office for consideration of domestic abuse charges against the woman.
• Responded to the Broadway Haus for an illegal dumping report at 10:02 a.m. Saturday at 300 N. Broadway. The caller said she saw a red truck dump a large amount of aluminum cans in the parking lot. The suspect vehicle was located and the driver, a 45-year-old New Ulm man, denied being involved. Police will attempt to obtain video footage of the incident. The report is under investigation.
• Responded to a residence where a 39-year-old Slayton man was very intoxicated at 7:23 p.m. Saturday on the 1500 block, Minnesota St. South. The caller, the man’s girlfriend, said she can’t care for him due to his alcohol abuse. The man was transported to the New Ulm Medical Center for evaluation. A report went to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety due to the man’s driver’s license status being cancelled and alcohol use invalidating his license.
• Responded to Walmart at 9:02 p.m. Saturday when a loss prevention employee identified a 37-year-old New Ulm woman suspected of 13 theft events dating back to June 27. The total amount of unpaid merchandise from 14 theft incidents was $1,676.22. Walmart will forward surveillance footage to police who are investigating the report.
Minnesota State Patrol
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash at 2:50 p.m. Sunday at Highway 14/15, New Ulm. A 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Christina Marie Donner, 38, Marshall and a 2017 Toyota RAV 4 driven by Valeria Rose Oak-Zeta, 41, Moorhead, were both northbound on Highway 15 when they collided. A passenger in the Jeep, Noella Kathryn Doller, 9, was transported to New Ulm Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. New Ulm Police/Fire, Courtland Fire and the Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office assisted. No alcohol was involved.
Sibley County Sherriff’s Office
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash without injuries on State Highway 5 and McGrann St. in Green Isle at 3;57 p.m. Sunday. Susan Barlage, 66, New Prague, was stopped on Highway 5 with a left turn signal on to turn east on McGrann in a 2013 Hyundai Accent when she collided with a 2007 Toyota Prius driven by Samantha Sherman, 19, Silver Lake. Damage was minor to both vehicles. Afterburner Towing assisted.
