• Received a report of a train-semi-tractor trailer crash at the railroad crossing on Renville County Road 16 north of Highway 212, Melville Township, two miles west of Hector at 12:56 p.m. Monday.
Emergency responders located a 2018 Freightliner semi driven by Andrew Hanson, 41, Atwater, who was southbound on CR 16. It appeared he failed to stop at a stop sign and did not yield to a westbound train. No one was injured in the crash. Hanson wore a seat belt.
The semi-tractor trailer hauling soybeans, had significant damage and spilled its contents onto the road. The train, owned by Canadian Pacific Railway, operated by Twin Cities and Western Railroad, was not loaded but had locomotive damage.
Assisting agencies were Hector Police, Fire and Ambulance and the Minnesota State Patrol.
