New Ulm Police

• Responded to a two-vehicle crash at Broadway and 17th North Street at 4:58 a.m. Monday. A 2023 Nissan Rogue driven eastbound by Jennifer Hamelau, 50, New Ulm, failed to yield to a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu driven northbound by Alejandro Guerra, 58, Sleepy Eye. Damage was moderate disabling to the front of the Nissan and moderate, not disabling to the Chevrolet. Both drivers wore seat belts. Guerra had a minor right shoulder injury.

• Stopped a vehicle for a vehicle equipment violation at Broadway and 2nd St. N. at 1:16 a.m. Saturday. The driver, a 53-year-old New Ulm man displayed impairment signs and was arrested for DWI. A 46-year-old New Ulm woman who was a passenger, was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail for fifth-degree controlled substance possession and open cannabis package. Suggested charges on the man include fifth-degree controlled substance possession, fourth-degree DWI, open cannabis package, a DANCO (domestic abuse no contact order) violation plus drivers license restriction and probation violations. Reports went to the Brown County Attorney’s Office and Brown County Probation.

• Responded to the Tavern 507 at 11:11 a.m. Saturday for an individual not permitted on the property. A 61-year-old New Ulm man was issued a trespass notice from the Green Mill in February 2023. A new trespass letter was issued to the man, not permitting him in the Tavern 507.

• Responded to a two-vehicle crash at 2:17 p.m. Saturday on CR 17 (391st Ave.) and 280th Street, Arlington Township, about 4 miles south of Arlington. Jeffrey Kleist, 65, rural Henderson, was driving a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound on CR 17 when he collided with a 2023 Ford F150 driven eastbound on 280th St. by Curtis Petzel, 66, rural Arlington. Kleist’s Jeep left the road and overturned. He and a passenger were transported by ground ambulance to a hospital with possible minor injuries. Both vehicles had extensive damage. The Arlington Fire Dept. and Arlington Ambulance assisted.
