New Ulm Police
• Responded to a physical altercation report at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday of a man with a knife who said he would fight law enforcement at Smoke’s Plus, 1702 Westridge Road. A 44-year-old homeless man in a pickup truck denied any physical altercation. Police learned an assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic assault happened in North Mankato. A 46-year-old homeless woman told police the man choked her the day before in North Mankato. The man was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail, to assist North Mankato Police. A report was sent to the North Mankato Police Department. The man was issued a trespass notice by Smoke’s Plus.
• Stopped a vehicle for speeding at 9:59 p.m. Wednesday at Broadway and 3rd St. S. and noticed impairment signs from a 44-year-old New Ulm man. He was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail. A report was sent to the New Ulm City Attorney’s office for consideration of second-degree DWI, speeding and no proof of insurance charges.
• Noticed a man exit a vehicle who appeared to be impaired at Kwik Trip North at 11:39 p.m. Wednesday. Field sobriety testing and a blood sample were requested from a 70-year-old Winthrop man before he was transported to detox. Reports were sent to the Minnesota Department of Corrections Probation, Brown County Probation and the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office for consideration of third-degree DWI, fifth-degree controlled substance possession, open cannabis package and failure to display a handicap placard while parked in a handicapped stall.
