New Ulm Police

• Stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation at 12:42 a.m. Friday at Garden St. and 5th St. N. A 31-year-old New Ulm man appeared to be under the influence. He failed field sobriety tests and was transported to the Brown County Jail. A report went to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office for consideration of second-degree DWI charges.

• The New Middle School School Resource Officer met with the principal about a student bringing fireworks to school at 10:09 a.m. Friday. A 12-year-old New Ulm boy admitted to having fireworks in his backpack. A report went to the Brown County Attorney’s Office.

• Responded to Riverbend Area Learning Center for a report of a student throwing soapy water in a staff member’s eyes at 11:13 a.m. Friday. A 50-year-old Tracy woman said an 11-year-old New Ulm girl splashed water from a bucket in her eyes. Reviewing video, it did not appear charges would be warranted. A report was done for documentation.
