New Ulm Police
• Took a driving complaint of a truck doing “burnouts” in the city hall parking lot at 11:28 p.m. Sunday. The suspected truck was located and stopped. Police talked to the driver, a 49-year-old New Ulm who was apparently under the influence of alcohol. After he failed field sobriety testing, he was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail. Reports went to the Minnesota Department of Corrections Probation and New Ulm City Attorney’s Office for consideration of fourth-degree DWI and open bottle charges.
• Responded to Walmart for a trespass complaint at 8:12 p.m. Friday. A 46-year-old Ramsey man was not allowed at Walmart for past theft issues. Officers located the suspect and cited him for trespassing and driving after revocation. Reports went to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office and Anoka County Probation.
• Stopped a vehicle for a stoplight violation at 7:50 p.m. Friday at 2nd St. N. and Broadway. Police talked to the driver, a 33-year-old Mankato man and detected a marijuana odor coming from inside the vehicle. The man was cited for open cannabis package in a motor vehicle. A report went to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office.
• Responded to a one-vehicle crash at 8:29 a.m. Thursday at Center and Broadway. A 2004 Honda Civic driven by Derecc Anthony Rodriguez, 26, was traveling southbound on Broadway, near Center when the driver said he looked down at his speedometer, looked up and hit a median sign, knocking it over. Vehicle damage was moderate. The driver wore a seat belt. No injuries were reported.

• Responded to a one-vehicle crash on Highway 14 near CR 11, Milford Township, Brown County at 10:08 a.m. Saturday. A 2016 Dodge Caravan driven by Kathy Ann Bailey, 72, Northwood, IA was westbound on Highway 14, left the road and entered the ditch. Bailey and passenger Esther J. Bontuager, 64 had non-life threatening injuries and were transported to the Sleepy Eye Medical Center. Another passenger, Joni Bontuager, 63, Northwood, IA was not injured. None of the women wore seat belts. Alcohol was not involved. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office and Sleepy Eye Police assisted.
