New Ulm Police

• Received a theft report of prescribed medications from an employee at the Brown County Evaluation Center, detox division at 2:18 p.m. Wednesday. Police said the suspect is a 38-year-old New Ulm man who works at detox. A report went to the Brown County Attorney’s Office for consideration of prescription drug theft charges.

• Police were dispatched to an area between Front Street N. and the Minnesota River at 10:28 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a disturbance and firearm discharge. Officers converged on the area and set up a perimeter.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) and a K9 team searched the area. Police talked to a 35-year-old homeless woman and a 53-year-old homeless man and learned nobody was injured. A firearm discharge was not substantiated. No charges are pending.

Police said there is no evidence of danger in the area. Assisting agencies were the Brown, Blue Earth and Nicollet County Sheriff’s Offices, Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Allina Ambulance.

Minnesota State Patrol

• Responded to a one-vehicle crash on State Highway 4 at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday at CR 20, Albin Township, Brown County. Brian James Earl, 42, Mankato, was driving a 2015 Mack semi northbound on Highway 4, lost control and rolled near CR 20. He wore a seat belt but was transported to Sleepy Eye Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Alcohol was not involved. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Sleepy Eye Fire and EMS assisted.

• Responded to a two-vehicle crash at 3:58 p.m. Tuesday at State Highway 5 and 190th St., Green Isle Township, Sibley County. A 2014 Buick Encore driven by Julie Elaine Schauer, 69, Green Isle, was eastbound on 190th St. when she collided with a 2020 Hyundai Tucson driven southbound on Highway 5 by Olga Yanet Robledo, 34, Arlington.

Schauer was transported to Waconia Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Robledo and a passenger, Bryan Rolando Trujilloicabalzeta, 23, Arlington, were transported to an Arlington hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Everyone wore seat belts. Alcohol was not involved. The Sibley County Sheriff’s Office, Green Isle Fire, Gaylord EMS and Ridgeview Medical assisted.

• Responded to a two-vehicle crash at 11:12 a.m. Monday on State Highway 19 at 391st Ave., Arlington Township, Sibley County. A 2005 Dodge Caravan driven by Bonny Lynn Mier, 58, Young America, was northbound on 391st Ave. when it collided with a 2010 International semi tractor trailer driven by Antonio Perze, 51, Northfield. Mier and Gayle Ann Norquist, Norwood-Young America and a 10-year-old male were transported to an Arlington hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Everyone wore seat belts. The Sibley County Sheriff’s Office, Arlington Fire and Ridgeview Ambulance assisted.

Renville County Sheriff’s Office

• Received a single-vehicle crash report at 8:48 a.m. Wednesday on CR 4 near the intersection of CR 16, about 8 miles southwest of Hector. At the scene, emergency responders saw a Duininck Inc.-owned 2009 Kenworth cement truck on its side in the eastbound ditch. The driver, Guadalupe Navarro, 32, Willmar exited the truck with non-life threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigation showed the truck was eastbound on CR 4 when the front driver’s side tire blew. Navarro lost control and entered the eastbound ditch. Damage was severe to the truck cab. Alcohol/drugs were not believed to be a factor. The Minnesota State Patrol, Hector Fire and Ambulance assisted.
