New Ulm Police

• Took a vandalism report at South Point Federal Credit Union at 8:43 a.m. Jan. 11. An ATM was spray-painted with black spray paint at 12:38 a.m. Jan. 11. An ATM camera captured part of the suspect’s vehicle and full face which were posted on the New Ulm Police Dept. Facebook page.

• Took a report of a 16-year-old New Ulm male vaping on a school bus at 8;44 a.m. Jan. 11 from New Ulm Bus Lines. The incident was captured on bus video surveillance. The student was cited for vaping. A report was done for documentation.

• Took a vandalism report at 9:09 a.m. Jan. 11 at the Brown County Law Enforcement Center. License plates on a police parking enforcement and police and sheriff’s office squad vehicles were spray painted with black paint. Video surveillance of the suspect revealed a silver SUV with sunroof with the incident recorded at 12:34 a.m. Jan. 11. Spray paint was removed and no damage was sustained.

• Took a vandalism report at 11:05 a.m. Jan. 11 at McDonald’s of black spray paint at the drive through window and exterior wall. Video showed a silver SUV with sunroof involved at 12:30 a.m. Jan. 11. A damage estimate was not yet available.

• Responded to Flandrau State Park at 8:32 p.m. Jan. 11 for a male sleeping on a camper cabin porch. A 23-year-old New Ulm man told police he was kicked out of his residence and had nowhere to go. Officers found a handgun on the man who was not permitted to legally possess it. Police took the handgun. The man was transported to New Ulm Medical Center via ambulance. He was later identified as the individual responsible for the latest spray painting incidents. A report for charge consideration of carrying a weapon without a permit was sent to the Brown County Attorney’s Office.

• Responded to a disturbance report the New Ulm Medical Center (NUMC) Emergency Room at 11:21 p.m. Jan. 11 to assist with a 23-year-old New Ulm male patient, the same man earlier found at Flandrau State Park, who displayed and performed assaultive and boisterous behavior to medical center staff and police. The man was transported to NUMC. A report to consider fourth-degree assault charges against a peace officer was sent to the Brown County Attorney’s Office.

• Arrested a 22-year-old Faribault man on a Rice County warrant Jan. 9 at the New Ulm Medical Center. The man was transported to the Brown County Jail. A report was sent to the Rice County Probation Dept.
