New Ulm Police
• Stopped a vehicle for swerving Monday. The driver, a 29-year-old New Ulm male, failed field sobriety tests, was arrested and transported to the New Ulm Medical Center for a blood draw. He was later transported to the Brown County Jail. After blood test results from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are learned, a report will be sent to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office and Brown County Probation.
• Responded to a report of underage individuals consuming alcohol at 1219 S. Jefferson St. at 12:09 a.m. Monday. Officers obtained a search warrant and entered the residence. Eleven consumption citations were issued. The homeowner, a 38-year-old New Ulm woman, was cited for a social host violation. School notification letters were sent to the high schools attended by the students.
• Stopped a vehicle driven by an individual police recognized as not possessing a valid driver’s license at 11:05 p.m. Sunday at Broadway and 5th St. N. It was the driver’s 11th 2023 driving after revocation citation. He was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail. Reports were sent to the city attorney’s office and Minnesota Department of Corrections.
• Responded to a report of a female banging on an apartment door at 204 1/2 Minnesota st. N. at 7:23 p.m. Saturday. Officers talked to a 46-year-old New Ulm woman who did not say why she banged on the door. A 47-year-old New Ulm man said he and the woman got into a verbal and physical altercation. The woman was arrested and cited for domestic assault and transported to the Brown County Evaluation Center and later to the Brown County Jail.
• Responded at 2:02 p.m. Saturday to a report of a 64-year-old New Ulm man locked out of his house by a 63-year-old New Ulm woman. The moved out of the house but is still a part-owner of it. The woman would not cooperate with police. A report was sent to Brown County Human Services.
• Responded to a Broadway Haus residence, 300 N. Broadway at 1:58 p.m. Saturday to assist an ambulance with lifting an 80-year-old New Ulm woman. Police have responded to the apartment 13 times for assistance in the past two years. A report was sent to Brown County Human Services.
• Spoke with a 37-year-old New Ulm woman at 11:25 p.m. Friday who reported a possible harassment restraining order violation against her husband, a 39-year-old Sleepy Eye man. The couple are allowed to contact each other on the Our Family Wizard app, but only about information pertaining to their children. The woman said he is using the app to harass her. A report was sent to the city attorney’s office.
• Stopped a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old New Ulm man for an equipment violation at 8:13 p.m. at U.S. Highway 14 and 190th Avenue. The driver was cited for open alcohol containers. A report was done for documentation.
• Met with a 61-year-old Shakopee man at 4:01 p.m. Saturday who said his storage unit was broken into. He said his unit contained a ladder, carburetor cleaning and starting fluid that was not his. The man thought someone tried to steal his vehicle in the unit. A report was done for documentation.
• Responded to the Brown County Evaluation Center Friday about a belligerent patient. A 24-year-old St. Cloud woman assaulted two staff members, a 37-year-old Hanska woman and 49-year-old St. James woman. Officers helped with placing the woman in an isolation room. Both staff members sought medical attention. Reports were sent to the Brown County Attorney’s Office, Hennepin and Sherburne County Probation.
• Responded to a disturbance report 3rd St. S and Jefferson at 3:45 a.m. Saturday. A 50-year-old New Ulm woman said she got into an argument with her ex-boyfriend, a 41-year-old homeless man. She had concerns for his mental state. A report for consideration of domestic assault and a no contact order violation were sent to the Brown County Attorney’s Office.
Brown County Sheriff’s Office
• Received a report at 1:43 p.m. Tuesday of a mailbox and TV antenna pole damaged by an unknown vehicle on the 12000 block, Shag Road, Cottonwood Township, sometime in the last two nights. A report was done for documentation.
Sleepy Eye Police
• Arrested a Sleepy Eye man for domestic assault at 6:17 p.m. Sunday at 218 Elm St. N.W. A Sleepy Eye woman had minor injuries and did not seek medical attention.
• Took a report of minor door damage overnight at Double B car wash, 1000 Walnut St. S.E. A report was done for documentation.
