Minnesota State Patrol
• Responded to a one-vehicle crash report with non-life threatening injuries in wet road conditions at 12:16 p.m. Nov. 25, 2023. Tyler Paul Therkilsen, 17, Sanborn, was driving a 2009 Dodge Ram southbound on Highway 71 when he left the road, entered the east ditch and rolled. Therkilsen and a passenger, Carter John Therkilsen, were transported to Windom Hospital. Jordan Randal Therkilsen, 14, Sanborn, was not injured. All three boys wore seat belts. Alcohol was not involved. Windom Ambulance, Sanborn Fire Dept. and the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
Sibley County Sheriff’s Office
• Responded to a one-vehicle crash at 10:23 p.m., Nov. 22 at the intersection of 261st Ave. (CR 14) and TH 25, Faxon Township, about two miles north of Belle Plaine. Richard Urista, 72, Jordan, was traveling southbound on CR 14 in his 2004 GMC Sierra pickup truck, drove through a t-intersection, left the road and collided with a tree in the ditch. Urista wore a seat belt. He was assessed by Ridgeview Ambulance due to non-life threatening injuries but was not transported to the hospital. The vehicle was heavily damaged. Belle Plaine Police, Ridgeview Ambulance and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted.
New Ulm Police
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash at 7:56 a.m. Nov. 27, 2023 and Oak and Garden Street. Tammy Waibel, 53, New Ulm, was driving a 2017 SUV, made a left turn into a 2007 car driven by Bryce Simon, 38, Gibbon, who had the right of way at a t-intersection. The SUV had front driver’s side bumper damage. The car had rear driver’s side door/fender damage and was towed from the scene. Both drivers wore seat belts.
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash on the 1400 block, German Street South at 5:20 p.m. Nov. 27, 2023. Witnesses said a reddish or orange SUV crashed into an unoccupied 2007 Dodge Caravan, then backed up and drove off, southbound on German St. No injuries were reported. Damage was significant to the Dodge Caravan. Damage was unknown to the SUV. No injuries were known or reported.
• Responded to a verbal domestic all at 6:58 a.m. Nov. 26 at 1518 Minnesota St. N involving a 48-year-old New Ulm man who came home intoxicated and “trashed” the house, then spent the night at another residence. A 15-year-old New Ulm female was not injured. Reports were sent to Brown County Human Services and the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office.
• Responded to a runaway report at 8:41 a.m. Nov. 26 involving a 17-year-old New Ulm female running away from a residence on the 600 block Valley St. S. She was soon found in Gaylord. Her parents brought her home. A report was sent to Brown County Human Services.
• Received a report at 11:19 a.m. Nov. 25 of a gas meter smashed in the backyard of a residence on the 900 block Center St. The fire department was dispatched. No other damage reported. A report was sent to city hall.
Sleepy Eye Police
• Received a disturbance call at 9:16 p.m. Nov. 27 from Subway, 421 W. Main. A 37-year-old Sleepy Eye man came into the store at closing time, took a cup, was asked to leave and tried to get back into the building but was unsuccessful. A report was sent to the Sleepy Eye City Attorney’s Office.
