Minnesota State Patrol
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash on snow and ice on TH 19, Winthrop, Sibley County. Troy M. Schull, 57, North Mankato, was driving a 2021 Hyundai Ioniq westbound on TH 19, when he collided with a 2007 International tractor driven by Timothy G. Fabian, 58, Springfield. Schull was transported to an Arlington hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Fabian was not injured. Both drivers wore seat belts. Airbags deployed in the car. Alcohol was not involved. The Sibley County Sheriff’s Office, Winthrop Ambulance and Police and Gaylord Police assisted.
Brown County Sheriff’s Office
• Received a scam/fraud report at 8:19 a.m. Jan. 11 from a 51-year-old Hanska woman who sent gift cards to an address on an app called telegraph in hopes of part-time work. The woman said she lost nearly $20,000. A report was sent to investigators.
New Ulm Police
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash report without injuries at 4:52 p.m. Jan. 10 at Broadway and 8th Street N. Juan Lozoya, 61, New Ulm, was driving a 2005 Buick westbound, said he didn’t see Kacy Kapolcynski, 37, New Ulm, who was driving a 2002 Mercury northbound. The Mercury was towed due to airbag deployment. Both drivers wore seat belts.
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash without apparent injuries at 5:43 p.m. Jan. 10 at Center and State. Gerald Ubl, 82, New Ulm was crossing Center St. on State St., did not see a vehicle driven by Carri J. Odegard, 50, New Ulm. Both drivers wore seat belts. Ubl said he didn’t see the other vehicle, Odegard said she could not stop due to slippery roads.
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash report without injuries at 9:07 a.m. Jan. 11. Jennifer D. Baune, 33, New Ulm, was driving a 2002 car southbound on Washington St., stopped at a stop sign at 10th S. St., said she saw no other cars and proceeded southbound on Washington St., colliding with a 2015 car driven by Paul Bases, 70, New Ulm. Both drivers wore seat belts. Both vehicles had moderate front end damage.
• Responded to a welfare check request at Traulich Estates at 10:30 p.m. Jan. 10. A 14-year-old New Ulm boy was taken to New Ulm Medical Center for a mental health evaluation after having self-harm thoughts.
• Received a theft report of a counterfeit $5 bill passed Tuesday afternoon at the New Ulm Country Club, 1 Golf Dr. at 7:23 a.m. Jan. 11. A report was done for documentation.
