Minnesota State Patrol

• Responded to a two-vehicle crash on eastbound TH 60, south of Madelia, Fieldon Township, Watonwan County at 5:33 p.m. May 30, 2022. Valerie Castellanos, 39, Bastrop, Tx. was driving a 2020 Hyundai car and Joshua D. Urkiewicz, 37, Smithville, Tx. were northbound on TH 15/60 when they collided. Castellanos was transported to a Madelia hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both drivers wore seat belts. Alcohol was not involved. The Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office assisted.

New Ulm Police

• Responded to a two-vehicle crash at 20th South and German St. at 7:44 p.m. May 28, 2022. Michael D. Johnson, 47, New Ulm, was driving a 2012 Ford Escape eastbound on 20th South, turned left into the Casey’s General Store parking lot when Dustin L. Portner, 39, Lafayette, driving a 2005 Ford Taurus, collided with the rear of the Ford Escape. No injuries were reported. Both drivers wore seat belts. Damage was moderate to the rear of the Escape and moderate to the front of the Taurus which had to be towed from the scene.

• Received a license plate theft report at 9:17 a.m. May 31, 2022 from a parked vehicle at 323 N. German over the weekend. The plate was entered as stolen at the National Crime Information Center.

• Received a report at 9:41 a.m. May 31, 2022 of an Amazon package stolen over the weekend on the 700 block of 8th St. N. The package was valued at $81. A report was done for documentation.

• Received a report at 10:06 p.m. May 31 of a verbal argument between a 24-year-old New Ulm woman and a 24-year-old New Ulm man. A report on the male will be sent to Brown County Probation.

• Stopped a speeding vehicle driven by an 18-year-old Sleepy Eye man at 1623 N. Broadway at 1:26 a.m. June 1. A report including 5th-degree drug possession, underage alcohol, drug paraphernalia and dangerous weapon possession was sent to the Brown County Attorney’s Office.

Sleepy Eye Police

• Received a child protection complaint at 12:28 a.m. June 1. The complaint was referred to Brown County Human Services.

Springfield Police

• Received a disturbance report at 3 p.m. May 31 at 331 N. Jefferson involving a Springfield man and woman. One of the individuals smashed all pickup truck windows. A report was sent to the Springfield City Attorney’s Office.
