Sleepy Eye Police

• Received a suspicious activity report at Zoo Man’s Palace, 145 Main St. E. at 10:37 a.m. April 22. A suspect with black hair, a black and white plaid shirt and COVID-19 mask entered the basement of the business and damaged a number of items, including props. A report was made for documentation. No more information was available.

Business owner Brent Mielke posted on Facebook that he was behind the building loading garbage cans to carry to a dumpster when he heard noises inside the building and smelled a cigarette.

“As I ran towards the alley door, I saw the guy running,” Mielke posted. “I called police, and they handled the report in the proper manner. I’m posting to remind everyone to be cautious, always be on alert and call police if you see suspicious behavior or movement. Never try to go after them. Let police do their job. Again, be alert and keep your doors closed and locked.”
