Sheriff’s Office

At approximately 3:12 p.m. Wednesday the Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a motor vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 169 South, at mile marker 59, south of Seven Mile Park.

A 2011 Ford pick-up truck operated by Howard Vogel, 71, of rural Saint Peter, was traveling in the northbound lane. It turned left, crossing into the southbound lanes directly in front of a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The motorcycle was driven by John Roby, 65, of Mankato, who was southbound. The motorcycle was unable to stop and broadsided the pickup truck.

Police declined to specify damage or injuries Wednesday.

New Ulm Police

Police received a theft report from Walmart Super Center, 1720 Westridge Rd., at 4:47 p.m. Tuesday. A Walmart loss prevention officer had suspects on video that took $700 to $1,000 worth of items including a griddle, lawn mower, air conditioner and several other items and drove away. Police later stopped the suspect vehicle and recovered the items. The suspects, a 31-year-old Litchfield man and a 62-year-old Jackson man were arrested without incident and taken to jail.
