New Ulm Police

• Received a two-vehicle crash report without injuries at 3:40 p.m. Monday at German and 7th Street South. A 2008 car driven by Mary Kuhn, 56, New Ulm was westbound on 7th South, began to turn left onto German Street and collided with a 2010 car driven by Timothy Van Rooyen, 52, Lake Crystal, who was southbound on German Street. Van Rooyen believed he stopped for the stop sign and did not see Kuhn when she began to move forward. Damage was moderate to the passenger front fender of Kuhn’s car and moderate to the driver’s side front fender of Van Rooyen’s car. Both drivers wore seat belts.

Lamberton Police

• The Lamberton Police Department with the assistance of the drug task force members is investigating allegations of a sexual assault and possession of a controlled substance incident in Lamberton, said a Lamberton Police Department press release. On March 3, officers and agents executed a search warrant to retrieve evidence from a residence. While officers were executing the warrant, the suspect, Austin David Svejda, 38, fled Minnesota. A warrant for Svejda’s arrest was issued through Redwood County Attorney’s Office.

On March 9, officers began working with the U.S. Marshall Office in Minneapolis to arrest Svejda. In the evening, Svejda was arrested by the U.S. Marshall Service in the Seattle, Washington, airport exiting a flight. Svejda is in the process of being transported back to Redwood County where he will face formal charges. At no time during this investigation was the public in danger. This case is under investigation by local law enforcement.
