• A Sleepy Eye woman suffered minor injuries in a car-semi crash at 12:35 p.m. Friday at 20th North Street and Broadway. Gregory Fortner, 52 of Pavo, Ga., was driving a semi east on 20th North St. on the inside lane of traffic. As he began to slow for a left turn, the semi began to slide on the snow-packed road. He was eventually able to come to a stop. He felt a bump when Cheyenne Platz, 26, of Sleepy Eye, rear-ended the semi, which was partially blocking the inside lane. Platz was traveling about 30 mph and was about half a block behind the semi when she saw it signal a left turn. She started to brake and felt her anti-lock brakes activate. The brakes were on for about a block before the crash. Platz received a minor injury and was taken to New Ulm Medical Center by ambulance.
