Judge to order Greenpeace to pay $345M

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota judge will order several Greenpeace entities to pay an expected $345 million to a pipeline company in connection with protests against the Dakota Access oil pipeline nearly a decade ago. Last year, Judge James Gion reduced a jury’s damages by about half to $345 million after a trial in which the jury found the environmental group liable for claims including defamation and conspiracy. Greenpeace said it doesn’t have the money to pay the judgment. The group says it plans to appeal. The North Dakota Supreme Court would handle appeals.

Starting at $4.50/week.
