California high-speed rail chief takes leave

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — The CEO of a California agency running the state’s long-delayed bullet train project is taking a leave of absence after he was arrested earlier this month over allegations of domestic violence. The lawyer representing Ian Choudri, who heads the state’s High-Speed Rail Authority, says the Sacramento County District Attorney did not press charges over the incident. But Choudri is taking a few days away from his job while his family processes and heals from what happened. Folsom police, who arrested him outside Sacramento, did not offer additional details on the incident. Choudri was appointed to the post in 2024 after working on high-speed rail systems in Europe.
