Hearing held on green card holders

BOSTON (AP) — A federal judge is expected to temporarily block efforts by the Trump administration to end a program that offered legal protections for more than 10,000 relatives of citizens and green card holders. U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani said Friday during a court hearing that she plans to issue a temporary restraining order but did not say when it would be issued. Plaintiffs want it issued by Jan. 14. That’s when protections end for people from Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti and Honduras who are part of the Family Reunification Parole program. Plaintiffs argue that many of these people have waited years for green cards, with some just weeks away from getting them.
