Dead whale found on bow of ship
GLOUCESTER CITY, N.J. (AP) — The death of a whale found on the bow of a container ship at a port along the Delaware River in southern New Jersey is under investigation. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center said Tuesday that it will conduct a necropsy to determine the whale’s cause of death. It’s believed to be a fin whale between 25 and 30 feet long. The whale was found Sunday on a ship at the Gloucester Marine Terminal. The port is at the base of the Walt Whitman Bridge linking New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is investigating the death.
