Prosecutors seek a 17-year prison term for Pentagon secrets leaker Jack Teixeira
BOSTON (AP) — Prosecutors plan to argue that a Massachusetts Air National Guard member who pleaded guilty to leaking highly classified military documents about the war in Ukraine should serve nearly 17 years in prison. In an sentence memorandum filed Tuesday, prosecutors say Jack Teixeira “perpetrated one of the most significant and consequential violations of the Espionage Act in American history.” Defense attorneys are pushing for an 11-year sentence. They admit their client “made a terrible decision which he repeated over 14 months” but say he never meant to harm the United States.

US airstrikes target multiple sites in Syria, killing up to 35 Islamic State militants
WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. Central Command says the U.S. military has struck a number of Islamic State group camps in central Syria, killing as many as 35 militants. The airstrikes were done Monday evening and targeted multiple locations and senior leaders of the group. The attacks come on the heels of a number of joint operations with Iraqi forces that targeted IS militants in Iraq. Pentagon officials have said that the Islamic State group remains a threat in the region. U.S. Central Command says the latest strikes in Syria will disrupt the group’s ability to plan, organize and conduct attacks against civilians and U.S. and allied forces in the region.
Judge extends early voting option in a suburban Philadelphia county after Trump’s campaign sued
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania judge has sided with Donald Trump’s campaign and agreed to extend an in-person voting option in suburban Philadelphia. The order came Wednesday after long lines on Tuesday caused voters to complain that they were being disenfranchised by an unprepared election office. Judge Jeffrey Trauger said in a one-page order that Bucks County voters who want to apply for an early mail ballot now have until Friday. The narrowly divided county is often seen as a political bellwether. Neighboring Lehigh County on Tuesday asked a judge to extend the deadline there by one day, through Wednesday. The judge agreed.
