Department of War identifies Army Reserve Soldier
The Department of War announced the death of Minnesota Sgt. First Class Nicole M. Amor, who was killed during a drone strike in Port Shuabia, Kuwait, Sunday.
Amor one of four Army Reserve Soldiers killed Sunday in support of Operation Epic Fury. Capt. Cody A. Khork, 35, of Winter Haven, Fla.; Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42, of Bellevue, Neb. and Sgt. Declan J. Coady were also killed in the same attack.
All Soldiers were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command, Des Moines, Iowa.
State Sen. Heather Gustafson, whose district includes White Bear Lake, said “this tragedy reminds us of the profound sacrifice made by all service members, their family, and loved ones. I extend my thoughts and condolences to her family and loved ones. We will honor her life by supporting her family, lifting them up in the days ahead, and never forgetting the cost paid in our name.”
Minnesota Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith each released a statement on Amor’s death.
“John and I join with people across our state and our country in mourning Sgt. First Class Nicole Amor of White Bear Lake,” Klobuchar said. “Our hearts are with her family, loved ones, and all those in our armed forces. Sgt. Amor made the ultimate sacrifice serving our nation, and we are forever indebted to her.”
“Archie and I are so sorry for the tragic loss and ultimate sacrifice of Minnesota’s Sgt. First Class Nicole Amor in service of our country,” Smith said. “We offer our deepest condolences to Nicole’s family and loved ones and pledge our support at this heartbreaking time.”
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said in a post, the state is mourning the loss of Nicole Amor.
“She answered the call to serve and gave her life in service to our state and nation,” Walz wrote. “Minnesotans are wrapping our arms around her loved ones.”
The attack that killed Amor occurred one day after the U.S. and Israel began a military campaign against Iran. Iran responded with a missile attack against Israel and other Gulf Arab states hosting U.S. armed forces.
