NEW ULM – The Sertoma Club of New Ulm was selected as a recipient of a grant from Sertoma International for $2,000, which has been given to New Ulm Public Schools to continue the schools work in supporting hearing screening for students.

In addition to this $2,000 grant, the New Ulm Sertoma Club contributed $5,175 to cover the total cost of replacing seven audiometers. The School District conducts hearing screenings for over 600 students annually. Last year twenty-one students were referred for further evaluation after failing the school screening. The audiometers used by the school have reached their end of life. Replacement of the devices will increase efficiency in the screening process.

“We are excited to receive the 2025 Sertoma Club Grant,” said Jason Frederickson, President of the New Ulm Sertoma Club. It not only celebrates our history of service but also gives us the opportunity to support the school district in their commitment to screening students for hearing, recognizing that a hearing deficit can be a significant hindrance to learning,”

Sertoma International is a network of local civic service clubs that, for more than a century, has worked to improve the quality of life for those at risk or affected by hearing loss through education and support.

“We are thrilled to support the New Ulm Sertoma Club as it continues its heartfelt mission of supporting the New Ulm community, while contributing to Sertoma’s enduring legacy of Service to Mankind,” said Sertoma International Executive Director Jason Camis.

Starting at $4.50/week.
