Nominations open for New Ulm Human Rights award
Each year, the New Ulm Human Rights Commission honors an individual, organization, or business that has made a significant contribution to advancing human rights and social justice in our community. The commission is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Human Rights Award.
The award recognizes those who have worked toward the betterment of life for a protected class and promoted equality, dignity, and respect for all. Human rights include fundamental freedoms such as liberty, education, equality before the law, freedom of speech, belief, and association.
The New Ulm Human Rights Commission, the oldest city commission of its kind in Minnesota, has been promoting equality and honoring local champions since 1970.
