Compassionate Friends World Wide Candle Lighting
NEW ULM – Redeemer Lutheran Church will host the South Central, MN chapter of The Compassionate Friends World Wide Candle Lighting ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 14.
The Compassionate Friends designates the second Sunday in December as Worldwide Candle Lighting to unite family and friends around the globe to honor the memory of sons, daughters, brothers, sisters and grandchildren gone too soon.
Each chapter around the world lights candles at 7 pm, in their respective time zone for a worldwide 24 hours of light.
The South Central MN Chapter of The Compassionate Friends is a group that supports families after the death of a child, grandchild or sibling. The South Central MN Chapter will meet at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14 at 700 S. Broadway in New Ulm inside Redeemer Lutheran Church. The event will begin with a 6 p.m. potluck with the candle lighting beginning at 7 pm.
The program includes live music, poems, helpful personal insights as well as a slide show of loved ones. Anyone who would like to submit a loved one’s picture for the slideshow, email the chapter at tcfsouthcentralmn@gmail.com.
In the email, included the loved one’s name and age at the time of their death. Materials will be provided to make a craft in memory of the loved one during the potluck. The chapter will also have a button picture maker available. Anyone who wants a button made, please bring along a photo of the loved one.
