Chamber preparing for new paid leave law

NEW ULM — Thursday, August 14, the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Blethen Berens Law Firm to host an educational seminar to help employers prepare for Minnesota’s new Paid Family and Medical Leave Law, set to go into effect on January 1, 2026.

The seminar will be held from 8:30 – 10:30am at the Best Western Plus – New Ulm Conference Center. This is a free event, though registration is required due to space limitations. This session is designed for business owners, HR professionals, payroll administrators, and others who want to better understand their obligations and action items under the new law.

Presenters include Blethen Berens Attorneys Julia Ketcham Corbett & Jacqueline Tousley-Adelman, and Abdo CPA Leah Davis. They will break down the key aspects of the law and share practical steps businesses can take now to get ready. Topics will include understanding the legal requirements, impact on other organizational policies, payroll compliance and reporting essentials, and more. Attendees will leave with a checklist of actionable items to ensure compliance and a smoother transition as this statewide mandate rolls out.
