Dr. Brian Buhr to speak at Policy at the Pub & Ag Trivia

Dr. Brian Buhr, Dean of College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Sciences (CFANS) will speak at Brown County Farm Bureau event, Tuesday, June 10 in Sleepy Eye.

SLEEPY EYE – Dr. Brian Buhr, Dean of CFANS (College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Sciences) and Director of the Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station at the University of Minnesota will attend and speak at the Policy at the Pub & Ag Trivia, Tuesday, June 10 hosted by Brown County Farm Bureau.

Minnesota Farm Bureau Public Policy Specialist Hunter Pederson will also provide a state legislative update. The event will be held at the Sleepy Eye Brewing Company starting at 7 p.m.

“One of the most important opportunities Farm Bureau provides is engagement and dialogue with elected leaders, influencers, and public officials,” said Jill Nelson, Brown County Farm Bureau President.

“Creating relationships helps ensure we share a vision for our communities and agriculture that provides for future generations. We are delighted to have Dean Buhr and others join us,” she added.

Dean Buhr served as the interim dean and director from August 2013 until June 2014 when he was officially named to the position. He is also a professor of applied economics. Dr. Buhr has received many awards and the CFANS Distinguished Faculty Award.

Minnesota Farm Bureau Public Policy Specialist Hunter Pederson will provide a state legislative update during the Brown County Farm Bureau Policy at 7 p.m. during the Pub & Ag Trivia, Tuesday, June 10 at Sleepy Eye Brewing

Hunter Pederson serves as the Minnesota Farm Bureau Public Policy Specialist. Pederson supports the public policy staff in its efforts, including advocacy at the Minnesota State Capitol, providing issue research, and outreach to regional and county Farm Bureaus. He is a University of Minnesota-Twin Cities graduate and prior to joining MFBF Pederson served as the Committee Administrator for the Minnesota Senate Agriculture, Broadband, and Rural Development Committee. In the role, he played a pivotal part in passing major agricultural budgets and worked closely with Senator Aric Putnam to shape legislative priorities and engage with key stakeholders.

The event is free to those involved in agriculture including farmers and those employed or involved in area agri-business. Pizza will be served, and the event features a friendly round of agriculture trivia and a chance to network with fellow agriculturalists.
